Doireann Ní Ghlacáin

Doireann Ní Ghlacáin is a presenter, producer, researcher, traditional musician, singer and composer from Dublin. Since has been at the forefront of traditional music programming on TG4 presenting landmark programmes such as Gradam Ceoil and FleadhTV. In 2021 she co-wrote and presented a documentary film about her maternal grandfather Seán Ó Riada with Jim Sheridan, which was met with widespread critical acclaim. In 2023, she led an innovative multi-media project, Say a Song, supported by the Arts Council, BAI and RTÉ, which invited a range of contemporary Irish poets and artists to reimagine a selection of major sean-nós songs through creative translation, visual and performance art, in order to highlight the relevance of their themes for the 21st century.  Doireann’s fiddle-playing can be heard on the duet album, “The Housekeeper’s”, recorded with Sarah Flynn. She also completed a PhD Irish sean-nós singing in 2024 under the supervision of Lillis Ó Laoire.
